Australasian
Marine Imports agent, Leigh-Smith Cruiser
Sales has recently announced the Australian
debut of the Hampton 680 Pilothouse.
With over 20 years of experience, the Hampton
Yachts Boat Building Company specialises in constructing
semi-custom yachts with a focus on comfort, safety,
and dependable cruising.
The 18ft 2in beam of the Hampton
680 Pilothouse allows for comfortable living
space above, whilst also accommodating a full beam
master stateroom and two spacious staterooms below,
served by two elegant marble-lined en suites. Amenities
and interiors can be custom-designed to each owner’s
specifications.
Hampton says the pilothouse
of the 680 offers excellent visability, while the
large instrument panel allows for easy installation
of the latest instrumentation and navigation equipment.
A settee with an adjustable
table and burl inlays can be converted to a dinette
for six at the dock. The flybridge offers a large
seating area, with adjustable table, helm bench, jump
seat, wet bar, refrigerator and barbecue space.

The hull is solid fibreglass,
reinforced with two layers of Kevlar from chine to
chine and three layers of Kevlar in the forward collision
zone. The engineroom has been designed with an emphasis
on easy access to all mechanical components and filters.
When cruising, the 680’s
planing hull offers a stable ride. According to Hampton
Yachts, the modified deep-V design, combined
with high forward deadrise sections, makes for a smooth
entry into head seas. The design also incorporates
propeller tunnels to lower the shaft angle, which,
Hampton points out, results in greater efficiency
and directional stability.
